What to Bring to the Dealership when Buying a Car

Buying a new car is extremely exciting, and the thought of it can make you forget about everything else. Although it may sound exciting, there are several steps involved in buying a car. You need to be prepared with all the documents necessary and must have enough time in hand to sit through all the paperwork at the dealership.

The entire process can sound quite boring, and if you are a first-time buyer, it must be quite the way to lose all the excitement. If you are ready with all the paperwork, then the process will get easier and save you a lot of time.

The other things that you are required to carry with you to the dealership before purchasing your car.

  • Driver’s License:

It is the most obvious and most important document that is required. Make sure that your driver's license is valid and has not expired. Anyone who plans to purchase a car must have a driver's license; otherwise, they won't be allowed to buy a car. It also acts as a valid proof of identity.

  • Proof of Employment:

If you are getting the car through a loan, you must prove to them that you have a stable income. This is a required document, and you can show your recent bank statements or your pay stubs to prove that you can pay off the monthly instalments.

  • Proof of Identity:

This is also a normal procedure, and you can produce any valid proof of identity so that it can be added to the final paperwork. You can produce your driver's license or passport or any other government-issued ID as proof of your identity.

  • Proof of residence

To send monthly bills to your residence, you must provide proof of your residence to the dealership. A valid document would be a utility bill or any other document that mentions the address of your house.

  • Proof of Insurance:

This one is a must because you must be able to show the dealership proof of insurance. You can talk to your agent beforehand to be ready with the necessary documents before purchasing your car. Your agent will also help remove your previous car and add your new car to the existing insurance policy.

  • Credit Score and History:

The dealership might already have your credit score, but you must check it yourself and review it. Carry it with you to the dealership when you plan to buy your new vehicle.

  • Any Discount Information:

If you are aware that you can avail of a discount from your credit card company, you must inform the dealership. Have all the necessary information ready with you so that you do not have to give up on the deal. Go through all the terms and conditions to completely understand the promotion before availing of the discount.
